Davis
is a charming, small town of approximately 2,600 located in south-central Oklahoma. It is home to two of the state¢s most popular tourist attractions: Turner Falls Park, which is the largest waterfall in Oklahoma, and Arbuckle Wilderness Exotic Animal Theme Park. The latter was awarded Oklahomas Outstanding Tourist Attraction for 2005 by the Oklahoma Department of Tourism. Turner Falls Park offers beautiful picnic areas, nature trails, caves, geological wonders, and two natural swimming pools. Just seven miles away from the town of Davis is the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, Oklahomas only National Park. This 10,000-acre park is filled with cold water springs, waterfalls, campgrounds, hiking trails and shady picnic areas. A Nature Center is also located in the park. Lake of the Arbuckles is also near Davis and is a great place for fishing, boating, swimming, camping, water skiing and picnicking. Arbuckle Lake, which has 36 miles of shoreline and 2,300 acres of surface water, is known for its catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, white bass and bluegill. Fishing is permitted at Arbuckle Lake year round. For those interested in ATV, the Cross Bar Ranch offers 6500 acres to ride at the top of the Arbuckle Mountains. The town of Davis offers many businesses geared towards tourists, including antique and specialty shops, an old-fashioned soda fountain, great restaurants and an upscale coffee house.

Southern Oklahoma has a continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. Dry, sunny weather generally prevails throughout the state. Precipitation varies from an average of 15 inches annually in the panhandle to over 50 inches in the southeast. Snowfall averages 9 inches a year in southern Oklahoma, which is also one of the windiest areas of the United States. Lightening is common in the spring months, with the possibility of severe thunderstorms containing large hail and damaging winds. Tornadoes can occur at any time of year, but April, May and June represent the months of peak occurrence. May's average of 20 tornado observations per month is the greatest.
