Yukon
is located in Canadian County in central Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the population was 21,043 residents. Yukon is the hometown of country singer superstar, Garth Brooks. It is also home to The Express Clydesdales Center. The Express Clydesdales are housed in a specially reconstructed barn that was originally built in 1936. A group of Amish barn specialists from Indiana came to Yukon to help rebuild the barn's structure. Now the barn is a welcome center for visitors from around the world, featured with pine wood and walnut trim and brass fixtures throughout. Yukon has easy access to I-40, Route 66, and the John Kilpatrick Turnpike. The town is known for its festivals, shopping centers, fine restaurants, great family hotels, and historic downtown. In addition, Yukon is a growing community with many quality homes and neighborhoods. The city of Yukon is home to several recreational parks including City Park, which is a 47 acre-facility with covered shelters, playgrounds, a junior Olympic size pool, kiddy pool, 10-acre pond, nature trails, horseshoe courts, baseball and football fields, basketball, and the award winning handicapped accessible Freedom Trail Playground designed for all children. Yukon is also officially known as the Czech Capitol of Oklahoma and celebrates its Czechoslovakian heritage with the annual Czech Festival on the first Saturday in October. Other special events in Yukon include Easter on the Prairie, Concerts in the Park, Chisholm Trail Festival, Freedom Fest, and Christmas in the Park.

Central Oklahoma has a sub-humid climate with frequent variations in weather seasonally and on a daily basis. Except during the consistently hot, humid summer months. Consistent winds, usually from the south or south-southeast during the summer, help temper the hotter weather. Consistent northerly winds during the winter intensify cold periods. Summers in central Oklahoma can be extremely hot. The area receives about 33 inches of rain annually and 9 inches of snow. Central Oklahoma has a severe weather season from March through August, and especially during April and May. Tornadoes have occurred in every month of the year. Oklahoma City has become one of the most tornado prone cities in the United States.
