Oklahoma-City
is the capital and largest city in the state of Oklahoma. The city˘s population is approximately 537,734, with a combined population of 1.1 million in the entire metropolitan area. Oklahoma City is located in the center of the state at the crossroads of I-35, I-40 and I-44. This diverse city offers a combination of modern, urban culture and charming, old-fashioned neighborhoods. It is home to exciting entertainment, museums, festivals, national sporting events, cultural opportunities and outdoor recreation. One of the most prominent Oklahoma City landmarks is the Crystal Bridge at the Myriad Botanical Gardens in a downtown urban park. The park is a tropical conservatory and has an amphitheater, and is home to the Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park. There is also a lake in the middle of the park with waterfalls and fountains. Lake Stanley Draper is the citys largest and most remote lake, while Lake Hefner and Lake Overholser are in the northwest part of the city. Restaurants, parks and trails surround the Lake Hefner area. Oklahoma City is home to many fine museums and galleries, including the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which is home to the largest collection of Chihuly glass in the world including the fifty-five foot Eleanor Blake Kirkpatrick Memorial Tower in the Museums atrium. Other places of interest include the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, the Science Museum Oklahoma, the International Photography Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Survivor Tree.

Central Oklahoma has a sub-humid climate with frequent variations in weather seasonally and on a daily basis. Except during the consistently hot, humid summer months. Consistent winds, usually from the south or south-southeast during the summer, help temper the hotter weather. Consistent northerly winds during the winter intensify cold periods. Summers in central Oklahoma can be extremely hot. The area receives about 33 inches of rain annually and 9 inches of snow. Central Oklahoma has a severe weather season from March through August, and especially during April and May. Tornadoes have occurred in every month of the year. Oklahoma City has become one of the most tornado prone cities in the United States.
